Q: How is RFA different from laser?

Both seal the refluxing vein from inside, but RFA uses radiofrequency at 120°C in 7 cm segments while EVLA uses laser energy continuously. RFA tends to cause less bruising and post-procedure pain in many patients.

Q: Is RFA suitable for all varicose veins?

RFA is best for the great and small saphenous veins within validated diameter ranges. Tortuous tributaries are managed with phlebectomy or sclerotherapy alongside or after RFA treatment of the main vein.

Q: What about complications?

Risks are very low — bruising, mild discomfort, transient nerve sensation along the saphenous nerve, skin burns (rare with adequate tumescent), and very rarely deep vein thrombosis (under 1%).

Q: When can I exercise again?

Walking is encouraged immediately. Light gym work resumes within a week; running and heavy weights from 2 weeks. Hot baths, saunas, and long-haul flights are avoided for 2–4 weeks after treatment.
